Sometimes, while we wait, we
catch a glimpse through a window…a moment of
clarity that brings life into focus…if only for
a split second.
Here is a peek inside some of Marianne’s
personal musical windows.
Marianne encountered her first guitar at age 12
and a love affair began.
Borrowing the guitar and a book of folk songs,
she taught herself to play. Marianne asked for a
guitar of her own, which her parents bought for
her, and later replaced with a beautiful Martin
guitar on her 17th birthday.
During college, a friend took
Marianne to see a James Taylor concert.
In the middle of the sets, the band took a break
and James came out solo, sat down on a stool
with an acoustic guitar, and began to sing.
Marianne recalls, “I started weeping
uncontrollably. In a very defining epiphany, I
knew (that I knew that I knew) that was what I
wanted to do!”
Married at 18 and a mom by age 21, Marianne’s
life filled with many things. But one thing
remained a constant…a deep desire to play music.
“I found myself crying out my innermost secret
longings to God. Later I got a call that I had
won a drawing in which the 1st prize was tuition
to a songwriting school, plus the opportunity to
record!” A door had opened.
Marianne is a songwriter, creating music from
the inside out, and deeply immersed in living
out her dreams. Marianne is an international
touring, and recording artist. Her 6th indie
release Green Room is described as
“beautiful, relevant lyrics wrapped up in artful
acoustic-driven pop/rock”
Marianne Kesler is a singer-songwriter, touring
artist and speaker.
She is, as one reviewer noted, an artist with a
poet’s heart.
Marianne combines allegory and metaphor in her
lyrics, with an organic approach to production
of her acoustic guitar-based music. The
resulting sound melds elements of pop, folk, and
rock.
Marianne is currently involved with ongoing
tours with two other artists…Leah Martensen on
the Road to Recovery tour (a celebrate recovery
focus) and Hoi on the Soulthink tours (music &
worship emphasis). Marianne is also an artist
associate with World Vision International.
Presentations range from a “mission moment” to
full length 30-40 minute presentations including
scriptures and video.
Marianne is also available to share on a variety
of topics, including
“Of Mountains and Children” (focus on women and
motherhood), “Songwriting 101” (a primer on
songwriting basics), and “How Many Careers Does
It Take To Make One CD?” (career education).
