Highly qualified and
experienced in both finance and ministry, Vyrl
loves God and endeavors to put Him first. His
background makes him uniquely qualified to serve
in his capacity as owner and founder of Church
Financial Development. Vyrl has the necessary
tools to help your church program be a
STATISTICAL SUCCESS while also providing
vital understanding of the God’s Word necessary
to make your program a SPIRITUAL SUCCESS.
For over 20 years, Vyrl served as a pastor and
teacher in both small and large church
congregations. He determined quite early in his
ministry that the teaching of sound Biblical
stewardship principles was one of the greatest
needs in the church. One church Vyrl pastored
grew from an average attendance of 80 to over
1,000 under his leadership. That church
purchased and paid for land for a new facility
debt free in 18 months. They now have a new
multi-million dollar structure, with an
auditorium with that seats 1,500. In the process
of formulating that growth, Vyrl saw his
God-given talents for financial stewardship
maturing.
Vyrl has experienced personally the overwhelming
impact that debt can bring to the life of a
church. After accepting the leadership of a
large church in Texas, he found that the
congregation had a debt load in excess of three
million dollars. Using the same biblical
stewardship principles that had guided him in
the past, he skillfully led that congregation
out of its financial black hole of debt. This
freed the church to use its offerings to expand
the ministry and give back more to the community
as opposed to giving more in interest to
financial institutions.
Knowing that God has called him to this unique
(yet necessary) ministry, Vyrl has a passion
for stewardship and taking this ministry and
work to a higher level. God has birthed in him
the desire to reach out to churches, Christian
schools and congregations. He has taught many
the principles of stewardship in raising money
for capital expansion, and helped them reduce
their debt and grow, while building on the
principles of God’s word relating to tithes and
offerings in the church.
In 1980 Vyrl opened and managed the California
operation for a Dallas-based stewardship firm.
After five years of solid experience with that
company, he left them to accept a pastorate.
After pastoring again for two years, he felt the
need to start Church Financial Development. He
located his offices in Tulsa Oklahoma and has
seen it expand into a life’s work. Using
Bible-based programs designed to help in the
areas of capital expansion, debt reduction and
missions giving, Vyrl has worked with over 600
churches in the last 20 years. During that time,
he has successfully guided churches in raising
millions of dollars. The end result has been
growth. Growth through physical expansion
projects and more importantly, spiritual growth
in the hearts and lives of those with whom he
has worked.
Vyrl is married and has four children, two of
whom are teenaged boys still in school. He
currently serves on the financial and
administrative boards of First United Methodist
Church in Tulsa Oklahoma, and is active in the
community.
